106 Trusting Your Body: Going Beyond the Voices

When your gut and your thoughts collide, you are standing at the threshold of trust. The body speaks in whispers, in shivers, in belly turns and heart flutters. The mind answers back with a rush of thoughts: What’s happening? Should I act? Do I wait?

For many of us, that moment feels like chaos. But within it lies opportunity. Trust begins in the calmness we can create between heartbeat and breath. In that stillness lives a voice that always knows the way.

The Language of the Nervous System

Your gut feelings are often the loudest signals, but they aren’t the only ones. Shaking knees, sweaty palms, a tight throat, or even a shiver down the spine are all messages from your nervous system. These sensations are not inconveniences—they’re guidance systems.

The nervous system is the first intuitive voice. It may not speak in words, but it speaks in sensations, directing your attention to what matters. Think of it as your inner storm chaser, picking up shifts in atmosphere long before the clouds appear.

The Midpoint of Not Knowing

When we’re flooded with thoughts, we often land in the uncomfortable space of “I don’t know.” Yet that midpoint is sacred. It isn’t failure—it’s a pause. A place where body, mind, and soul invite themselves into partnership. Contradiction isn’t the enemy; it’s the threshold to awakening.

Three Steps to Build Trust

  • Anchor Your Body. Press your feet into the floor, align your posture, and press your tongue gently to the roof of your mouth. This stimulates the glossopharyngeal nerve and calms the vagus system, grounding you instantly.
  • Offer Your Body to Spirit. Quietly affirm: Here I am, Spirit. Guide my senses. Your spirit is the original source of you. By offering presence, you weave soul and biology together.
  • Listen for the Second Voice. The first voice often shouts fear or urgency. Wait. The second voice is steady, calm, and clear. It may arrive as a simple yes or no, guiding you outward from the splash of fear into ripples of clarity.

The Ripple Effect of Clarity

Fear is like a rock tossed into water. The splash jolts us. But wisdom comes in the ripples that flow outward—steady, directional, unmistakable. Your task is to follow the ripples, not fixate on the splash.

When you trust your body, you’re not eliminating contradictions—you’re embracing the dance of biology, spirit, and soul. This partnership always leads you home.

Trust yourself. Trust the clarity that ripples through confusion. Your nervous system and your soul are not separate; together, they are guiding you to purpose, peace, and truth.
